Stephanie's classmate, Gia Mahan, is not as excited, as Gia also has her eyes on Jamie and is determined not to let Stephanie have him so easily. To make Jamie cancel the date with Stephanie, Gia spreads a false rumor at school that Stephanie wouldn't get dates if she didn't pay boys to go out with her. Gia's plan works, and Jamie cancels the date, so Stephanie gets back at Gia by hanging a reproduction of Gia's awful note in the hallway. This makes Gia feel even more hurt than Stephanie felt when Gia spread the false rumor about her. Seeing how hurt Gia feels, Stephanie starts to feel guilty.
